Equinox Dawn and Eclipse Mornings
The September 2026 autumn equinox is our flagship celestial tour week: the sun rises behind the central tower for several mornings around September 22. We also plan guided eclipse viewing when partial phases are visible from Cambodia — including the August 2027 window — with safe viewing practice and temple context before and after the sky event.
Booking a guided tour for these mornings means hotel pickup before park opening, reserved pacing through the crowds, and a guide who can shift you to a quieter flank if the reflecting pools fill early. Green-season mist and full moats make September especially photogenic.

Chapter 03 — On Tour
What a Guided Morning Feels Like
Equinox and busy sunrise mornings gather thousands along the causeway in the dark. A guided tour starts earlier: hotel pickup, pass check, and a calm walk to a position your guide has already planned — often west of the reflecting pools or on a quieter flank — while mist still lifts from the moat.
Your guide narrates the alignment as the central tower silhouettes, then leads you into the galleries once the first wave of visitors thins — so the temple opens up after the spectacle, not just during it.
Pre-dawn pickup
We collect you from your hotel so you reach the park as gates open. Early arrival is built into every sunrise and celestial tour.
Guided positioning
For equinox alignment, your guide places the group for a clean view of the sun behind the central prasat — and adjusts if the front line fills.
We brief the field kit
Headlamp, light jacket, repellent, water — your confirmation email lists what to pack for green-season mornings.
Book a second morning
Celestial weeks reward a backup dawn. If September 22 is overcast, surrounding days still carry the alignment — ask us for a two-morning package.

What Is Included on Tour
Hotel pickup and timing
Sunrise tours leave hotels early enough to be in place before first light — typically sun between 5:45 and 6:00 AM in September.
Pass guidance
We advise which Angkor pass to buy and when. Passes are usually purchased the day before so sunrise is never delayed at the ticket booth.
Private transport
Tuk-tuk or car with driver is arranged with your guide — about 15 to 30 minutes from central Siem Reap to the temple.
Celestial windows
Equinox week runs roughly September 19–25. Eclipse tours are scheduled only when partial phases are visible from Cambodia.
What to bring
Light jacket, headlamp, repellent, water, grippy shoes. Photo tours: bring a compact tripod if you want long-exposure dawn frames.
Quieter routing
Private and small-group options use quieter flanks and gallery paths after sunrise — ask for a private guide if space matters most.

After an equinox or eclipse dawn, afternoons are ideal for Bayon and Ta Prohm with the same guide. We can also arrange multi-day circuits if you want deeper time in the park.
